#  Actor Suriya birth name is Saravanan Sivakumar. He was born on 23rd July 1975 in Chennai, India to actor Sivakumar and Lakshmi.

#  Surya has two younger siblings brother Karthi and sister Brindha Sivakumar.

#  He did his schooling in Chennai. He completed his B.Com in Loyola College, Chennai.

#  Suriya entered the film industry in 1997 with “Nerrukku Ner” alongside Vijay, the film was produced by Mani Ratnam, the movie did moderately well at box office.

#  Despite born in filmy family his journey in the industry was hard. Initial successful movies like Nandha, Kaakha Kaakha, Pithamagan etc established him strongly in the industry.

#  After being successful as an actor he ventured into film distribution with his own company “Studio Green” 2006. So far the company is producing and distributing films of Surya and Karthi.

#  He dated his co-star actress Jyothika since the filming of Kaakha Kaakha and married her in 2006. They have two children, Diya and Dev.

#  He founded a NGO “Agaram Foundation” in 2008 which helps the poor students financially for paying school fee, Uniform, books etc. Apart from that he even participated in “Save The Tigers” campaign. He worked for NGO “REACH” which serves TB patients.
